1. What are your fees? How much will it cost to have a D.J.?

As you probably expected, our fees depend on certain variables unique to your event. We do not have a set hourly rate or a required minimum amount of hours. To provide you with a reference figure: our fees range from $500 - $750 for 4hrs of music entertainment service. Factors influencing cost are: type of event, size of event, equipment needs, number of hours, extras & options. By providing us with specific accurate information about your event we are able to give you a reliable quote and help meet your event needs as best as possible. Our fees are consistent from client to client and differ only in regards to the previously mentioned variables. If you are having a smaller, less interactive function and do not necessarily require DJ entertainment but still would like a suitable substantial sound system you can opt for one of our “rent a system” packages in a lower fee category. 2. How can I attain a service fee quote for my specific event?

A quote can be attained over the phone, through meeting or most easily by completing and submitting an event form in the Booking Section of our website. Please see [LINK TO BOOKING SECTION].

3. Do fees vary based on certain dates?

Our rates do not change based on dates (weekday versus weekend, holidays versus non holidays, etc). Although some vendors and service providers vary their rates to encourage or discourage bookings for specific dates, the amount of preparation, appropriate equipment, and level of service does not change based on dates- so why should our fees.

4. Do you offer discounts?

Occasionally we send out “Discount Certificates” to past clients as a thank you or according to specific event promotions. We do not offer discounts otherwise. Clients who have numbered and certified/ initialed “Discount Certificates” may apply them to their total event fees at the time of booking.

5. Who will DJ my event?

We realize how important it is that you have the right kind of DJ for your special event. La Boom DJ’s are passionate about music and the atmosphere they help create. Based on information gathered about you and your event one of us- who is experienced, professional and appropriate for your event- will be designated to meet your event needs. Most of the time we can meet the needs of any event, but if for any reason we feel that we can’t, we will tell you and either refer you or set you up with a sub-contracted DJ who would be a better fit. You will be afforded every opportunity to meet with your DJ before your event. In fact, we strongly encourage a meeting to make sure your DJ is a good fit and that you are comfortable with them. Admit it! At the very least you would like to make sure your DJ is coherent and is not going to shock your guests with explicit tattoos, a large painful looking piercing or off the wall hair dews. Although, with appropriate attire you may never know! Underwear? Unless there is an unforeseen emergency, the DJ you meet with will also be the DJ for your event!

6. What type of music can I expect the DJ to play?

We have well over 10,000 popular song titles to choose from relating to many diverse music categories and experience in playing an array of different types of music for many different kinds of events, activities and crowds. Well before your event date we will try to clarify with you your desired musical atmosphere ask you to select 15 songs from our music list that you would like to hear during your event. The DJ will then play these songs and others- that are in accordance with your choices and are appropriate for the crowd and the type of atmosphere your are trying to create.

7. How do I choose and submit song requests?

You may choose any songs you fancy (except ones with vulgar/explicit/derogatory language) but in order to make sure we have your selections available we suggest you look over our music lists, menus and suggested program selections posted in the Music section of our website. There you can select songs you would like the DJ to include for your event and submit them directly to music@laboom.net.

Note your selections and send, fax, or e-mail them to us at least a week before your event or simply give them to us during a meeting. As a reference, only 60 songs can be played in a typical 4hr event (less if there are many announcements or activities). Because it is a good idea to allow the DJ to have some flexibility to adjust to changing moods or be able to welcome some requests, more than 15 selections cannot be guaranteed. We suggest selecting 15 songs that 1) are somewhat diverse in nature 2) you would like to hear at different times or various stages 3) are representative of the event and the type of mood you would like to elicit from your guest. You are welcome to note a desired order, specific times and/ or any relating announcements or dedications. More detailed information might be necessary for certain events. If we do not have some of your requests on our music list we will try to attain them or you can simply provide us with your selections on CD to make sure. In order to keep track, take responsibility and make sure the songs are okay with you we will only accept CDs from one person- yourself or someone you designate- and return them to that person at the end of the event. 8. Should we meet to discuss or coordinate my event?

Although not necessary, a casual meeting is a chance to learn more about our services and to make sure you are comfortable using us for your special event. We also welcome the opportunity to get to know you better, gain a better understanding of your needs and establish a rapport. By meeting at the actual event place we can gain a better understand of your event needs and vision. We also will be able to address any setup issues we might encounter. Secondary meeting options might include your home, our office or a nearby bar or café. If you’re a repeat client or your event does not warrant a face-to-face meeting we suggest setting up a phone appointment to discuss the necessary details. In any case, we will follow up with you one week prior to your scheduled event in order to confirm, review and discuss any last minute changes.

9. Can you provide me with some referrals or letters of recommendation?

You’ve probably already read or heard some positive feedback from pleased clients. We have posted some comments in the welcome section of our website which have been received from letters, cards, and e-mails from clients who have been gracious enough to send us their positive feedback. These do not include the countless “great music!”, “well handled”,“great job!” and “thank you"s that we receive at events. Our clients place a certain degree of trust in our policies about sharing their personal information. If you would like to follow up some clients that specifically relate to your event we can furnish you with the most recent contact info on we have on file. Please be sure to respect their privacy and time when following up with them.

10. Do you have a brochure that you can send me?

Our website could be considered an online brochure but we also have a more tangible version with a business card, pictures, a brief summary of our services and questions to ask when hiring a DJ that can be sent out to you along with relating forms and info such as a summary letter, entertainment agreement, music list, mix CDs and event scheduler.
